Anatomy of an Artificial Mind - Talk by Enrico Zimuel

Foundations and promises of artificial intelligence, at FLA Festival 2026.

Date

06 November 2026 19:00 - 06 November 2026 20:00

As part of FLA - Festival di Libri e Altrecose 2026, in the section curated by Metro Olografix, Enrico Zimuel presents his book Anatomia di una mente artificiale (“Anatomy of an Artificial Mind”).

What it’s about

The essential foundations for understanding artificial intelligence, centred on Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT: what they can do, where they fall short, and what we still don’t know about how they work. The talk covers the contradictions in benchmarks, which show impressive abilities but also weaknesses on long-horizon tasks, and the underlying question: do these models understand, or do they imitate? It closes with ethics and regulation, from the EU AI Act to Italy’s AI law (Law no. 132 of 23 September 2025).
